Fernando Alonso is a character that appears in the Spanish version of Cars 2. He is a Spanish race car that visits the World Grand Prix, in place of Jeff Gorvette or the other version-exclusive racers in one scene.

History[]

Cars 2[]

In the Spanish version of Cars 2, upon Team McQueen's arrival at the World Grand Prix welcome party in Tokyo, Japan, Lightning McQueen is greeted by Alonso and Lewis Hamilton, but their conversation is cut short after Lightning leaves to keep an eye on Mater. Fernando later appears in one of Mater's memories while the latter is dreaming.

General information[]

Physical description[]

Alonso is a 2007 Grand Touring Sports SS-E, the same model as Miguel Camino, with additional designs based on Spain's flag (reproducing Alonso's helmet color scheme in real life). Additionally, the blue and yellow colors serve as a reference to Renault's Formula One cars from 2000 to 2006. There are also two lightning bolts on his hood.

Personality and traits[]

Although Alonso is very competitive on the track, he is quite kind, and is good friends with Lightning McQueen and Lewis Hamilton.

    • This is mostly likely because both of them are from Spain.

    • His die-cast might have not been released due to copyright/licensing issues with Fernando himself.
  • He is also the only World Grand Prix racer that does not have any official artwork available for him, nor a number.
  • He is also the only World Grand Prix racer to not be included in the Transcontinental Race of Champions league.
  • In Lamp Life and Toy Story: That Time Forgot, there are toy cars that are based on Fernando and Miguel's model.
    • Multiple appear in Toy Story: That Time Forgot. Along with toys that look like Shu Todoroki and Rip Clutchgoneski.
    • The toy car in Lamp Life strongly resembles Fernando's design, only being a lighter shade of blue.
