- Don is named after a Pixar production worker and animator Don Crum.
- In original Mattel release plans, Don was known as "Russ Gremlin", which sometimes leads to naming errors elsewhere on the Internet.
- Don Crumlin is one of the few Lemons, along with Stefan Gremsky and Jerome Ramped, whose surname isn't that of his make and model (interestingly enough, Fred Pacer was once known as Fred Fisbowski, and Petrov Trunkov was once known as Petrov Oilski).
- In Cars 2: The Video Game, several purple Gremlins identical to him appear in Attack and Hunter mode as cars that you have to destroy. They can shoot missiles, putting them in the middle difficulty.
